Clara Jean Hammer, 81, resident of Bartlesville, died Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the East Cross United Methodist Church with Rev. Chad Perceful officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial has been established in honor of Mrs. Hammer and contributions may be mailed to the East Cross United Methodist Church: 820 S Madison Blvd, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006 or the Mutual Girls Club: 321 S Penn Ave, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
The daughter of Mark and Lottie (Wilson) Stevens, Clara was born September 20, 1931 in Joplin, Missouri. She graduated from Erie High School in Erie, Kansas in 1948. On July 9, 1955, Clara Jean and William Joseph Hammer were united in marriage in Parsons, Kansas. The Hammers eventually made their permanent home in Bartlesville in 1969. Clara chose to be a homemaker until 1980. She then worked for the Jane Phillips Hospital Lab, retiring in 1991. She had many hobbies. For many years, Clara was a dedicated volunteer at the Tuesday House and had served on the board of The Mutual Girls Club. She was an active member of the East Cross United Methodist Church and a Bible Study group. Clara had a heart of gold and was dearly loved by many!
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill Hammer.
Clara is survived by her son, 1st Sgt. (Ret.) Bradley J. Hammer and his wife, Terri, of St. Joseph, Missouri; three grandchildren, Rhyan J. Hammer, Mackenzie J. Hammer and Marcus Capps Jr,; three siblings, Virginia Hilton of Butler, Missouri, Evelyn Tomblin of Laguna Woods, California and Ralph Stevens of Topeka, Kansas; brother-in-law, Frank Hammer and his wife, Kay, of Claremore, Oklahoma; niece, Patricia Hilton-Friederich and her husband, Dale, of Butler, Missouri; nephew, Russell Hilton and his wife, Jackie, of Lawrence, Kansas; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
