David Reinecke Obituary

Dr. David Linn Reinecke, a longtime Cushing physician, passed away on Monday evening in Oklahoma City at the age of 62. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Cushing. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.
David was born on June 1, 1951 in Manhattan, Kansas to Marvin and Alice (Herr) Reinecke. He grew up in Bartlesville, graduating from Bartlesville High School in 1969. David attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Bachelor's in Biology in 1973. He then went on to Medical School at O.U., graduating in 1977. David married the love of his life Cathy Amberg on February 13, 1982 in Oklahoma City, Ok. They lived in Osawatomie, Kansas where he worked in Public Health for a few years before moving to Cushing in 1984.
In Cushing, David began his career in Internal Medicine Practice. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the O.S.M.A., A.M.A. and a Rotarian. David had many hobbies. One that his is most remembered for was his love for wine and fine food. He began collecting wine in 1975. He and Cathy have traveled to Napa, France and Italy to experience how the wine was made and sample the local cuisine. He had amazing hand written journals, ledgers and notes to chronicle his collection. He liked to cook for close family and friends and plan the wine to accompany the meal. Some of the best Saturday's and holidays were spent enjoying these meal that David prepared. David also enjoyed hunting and nature in general. David loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Cathy of the home, daughter Jill Clark and husband Ryan of Chicago, Ill., sons Brad Reinecke of Cushing and Jeff Reinecke of Stillwater, mother Alice Reinecke of Bartlesville, sisters Marla James and husband George of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ruth Birgeles and husband Tom of New York City, Lilli Lessinger and husband Ray of Lorena, Tx., brother John Reinecke, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
