Dennis Ray Ware passed away at his home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren on Sept. 8, 2012.
He was born on September 18, 1936, at Wooster Mound, Okla., to Clark and Dora (Smith) Ware.
Dennis married Rita Kathleen (Kathy) Gilreath on June 14, 1967.
Dennis was the beloved father of seven children: Pamela Oates of Turley, Okla., Richard Ware, John Ware and wife Christy, Joe Ware, Lonnie Ware and wife,Shawna (Pooh), all of Wynona, Okla.
Dennis also had the privilege of raising one granddaughter, Delila Summers. Dennis had 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Dennis retired from Osage County Road Department in 2003. Dennis' hobbies included making leather gifts such as purses, belts, guitar straps, checkbook holders and wallets for his friends, family and all the men, women and children of his church, the Antioch Christian Fellowship located in Wynona. Dennis was very proud to be a lifetime member of the Wynona Round-Up Club and was instrumental in its founding. Dennis thoroughly enjoyed horses, hounds, coon hunting with his friends and sons, and a pleasant conversation with everyone.
Dennis was survived by two brothers, Gene Ware of Hominy and Ben Ware of Wynona; one sister, Doris Ann Ware of Nowata; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Jean Turley of Barnsdall, and Myrna Gail Diaz of Pawhuska; two brothers, Melvin Ware of Barnsdall, and Floyd Ware of Wynona; two sisters, Lillian Myers of Wynona and an infant sister, Louise Ware; and one grandson, Justin L. Ware of Howard, Kans.
Husband, dad, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle and friend were just a few of the deserving titles that were bestowed upon a man that was loved, admired and respected by many.
Graveside services were Sept. 11, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Services were officiated by Rev. Wayne Brown of the Antioch Christian Fellowship and Father Chris Daigle of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Pallbearers included Dennis; close long-time friends Corbin Henley, Larry Howell, Jerry Ballard, Marion Graham, Bruce Maker, Johnny Simmons and Fred Clanton.
