Elizabeth Oella (Adkins) Confer went to be with her Lord & Savior on November 24, 2013 at age 93. She passed away at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid, OK. with family by her side.
Funeral services for Elizabeth Oella Confer will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the First Baptist Church located at 405 S. Cherokee in Bartlesville. Rev. Ben Killion of Nowata and Tom Cox of Bartlesville will officiate. Burial will be in Old Mission Wichita Park Cemetery, 3424 E. 21st Street, Wichita, Kansas with arrangements by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Liz was born January 26, 1920 at Peck, Kansas at home to Charles Edgar and Myrtie Edith (Ohmart) Adkins. She attended school in Wichita and Coffeyville, she graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1937. She attended Coffeyville Junior College and Oklahoma Agricultural & Mechanical College (A & M) in 1945.
Liz had several jobs as a student working in the college office and for the superintendent of schools along with being a clerk at the local Kress store. She worked as a lab tech at the National Refining Comp. and at Coffeyville Wholesale Grocery Company.
In October 1939 she married George Reading and lived in Borger, Texas and they divorced in April 1945. Liz went to work for Fidelity & Guaranty Co. in Oklahoma City in 1945. In September 1946 she started work for Sinclair Pipeline Co. at Independence, Kansas. On August 19, 1950 she married Kenneth Leroy Confer at the Methodist Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. In August 1964 she transferred to Sinclair Oil & Gas Co. in Midland, Texas which merged with Arco Oil & Gas Co. She worked in several areas of the company before retiring in August 1985 after 44 years.
Liz loved all indoor & outdoor sports and activities. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and playing bridge as well as spending time playing with all of her nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
Liz spent many hours volunteering at the hospital in Midland, Texas and Veterans Hospital in Claremore, Okla. She was a member of 55-Plus and a life time member of the Order of Eastern Star Eva Chapter # 18 in Independence, Kansas. She is a member of First Baptist Church & Seniors Sunday School Class.
Liz is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth of 46 years, her parents, Charles and Myrtie Adkins, sister, Pat Osgood, brother, Charles Adkins and niece, Jean Young.
Survivors include 3 special great nephews, Davey, Matthew, and Jonas. She also loved dearly her 5 nieces, 4 nephews and the many many more great nieces and nephews she had along with many cousins.
Liz so loved her family; friends and neighbors. She was always a very loving and caring person who would try to help anyone that needed it. She believed in a good education, family values, and most of all, God. Her faith in the Lord is what kept her strong. Liz believed in forgiveness, peace, hope and faith. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
