Elwin W. Kreps, age 90, and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Bartlesville.
Elwin Wilburn Kreps was born July 26, 1922, in Milfay, Oklahoma to Leo Kreps and Bertha Estes Kreps. He grew up and graduated high school in Depew, Oklahoma where he met the love of his life. He married Helen Heilmann on May 23, 1942 and they were married almost 62 years at the time of her death.
Elwin entered the Army Air Corp in 1942. He flew 30 missions over Europe as a ball turritt gunner on a B-17. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters. He received his honorable discharge in October 1945 and moved to Bristow, Oklahoma. There he worked with his father and brothers as a mechanic at Kreps Auto.
In 1950, Elwin and his wife, Helen, moved to Bartlesville to work for Larry List Lincoln Mercury Dealership. In 1956, Elwin became an employee of Phillips Petroleum Company in the Auto Lab testing oils. He retired from the company in 1985. During his years at Phillips and after retirement, he worked on cars as a side job. He was known as an excellent mechanic and had a loyal cliental. He loved working on cars. He was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church. God and his family were the most important things in his life and he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond, Bill and Melvin; and his wife, Helen. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Donnie Miller; granddaughter, Deborah Bennett,; grandson, Daniel Miller; great-granddaughter, Heather Clapper and her husband, Marc; great-grandson, Ryan Wickham and his wife, Krystal; great-grandson, Dustin Wickham; and great-great-granddaughter, Irelynn Wickham; two step-great-great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Alexes Carpenter.

Visitation for Elwin will be held at the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. on Friday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM; on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM; and on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 PM.
Services will be held on Monday, June 3, at 2:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ed Gordon of the Trinity Baptist Church will be the officiant. Interment will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded Mr. Kreps by the James H. Teel American Legion Post #105 of Bartlesville.
