Evelyn Jean Stringer, 91, resident of Owasso, formerly of Bartlesville, died Thursday January 9, 2014 at Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 in the Walker-Brown Chapel with Reverend Chad Perceful officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born August 12, 1922 in Avant, OK to Walter and Lydia (Bixler) Stringer. She graduated from Bartlesville College High School in 1940. Evelyn worked for Phillips Petroleum Company before completing her education at Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater with a degree in Home Economics, later acquiring her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She retired from teaching in the Broken Arrow school system before returning to Bartlesville.In 2000, Evelyn moved to Owasso where she resided until her passing.
Evelyn is survived by one brother, Bob and wife Margaret Stringer of Lewisville, TX, two sisters, Carolyn and husband Gil French of Bartlesville, Pat Cleveland of Dewey and brother-in-law, Jack Corey of Conroe, TX as well a numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kathryn Corey and brother, Ron Stringer.
