Harold Raymond Harris, 94, former resident of Bartlesville, died Friday April 12, 2013 in Midland, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ with Mr. Art Henley and Mr. David Hammonds officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Harold Raymond Harris was born January 9, 1919, in Portland, Sumner County, Kansas. He graduated from Geuda Springs High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University. He worked his entire career for Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Phillips, Texas and Odessa, Texas retiring in 1984. He married Lillian Lucille Whitlow in 1943. He retired in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and moved to Midland, Texas in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arkle Harris and Anna Overholt Harris, his wife Lillian Lucille Harris, brothers Arlyss Harris and Earl Harris, sister Laverne Berry and son Donald May. He is survived by his wife Irma Louise Harris; brother Wayne Harris of Sumner County, Kansas; brother-in-law Scott Berry of Scranton, Kansas; sons and wives John and Janie Harris of Kingwood, Texas, and Richard and Susan Harris of Austin, Texas; daughter and husband Diane and Jim Powell of Midland, Texas; grandson and wife Jeff and Amy Harris of Victoria, Texas; grandson Travis Harris of Corpus Christi, Texas; granddaughter and husband Robin and Rodney Damron of Midland, Texas; and grandson and wife Keith and Joyce Powell along with numerous nephews, nieces and great grandchildren.
He loved and was close to his family. He spent his retirement years primarily in church and mission work along with global travel. He was a faithful Christian his entire life and served decades as an elder in the Limestone Church of Christ and later the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ in Bartlesville, OK.
