Mr. James C. Harris, 85, died at 3:44 A.M. on Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, at the First Baptist Church in Barnsdall. Interment will be in the Ethel-Reece Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff-Barnsdall Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established in honor of Mr. James C. Harris to the Barnsdall American Legion Post 227 and contributions may be mailed to 416 West Main, Barnsdall, OK 74002.
The son of Christopher and Elizabeth R. (Gladden) Harris, James was born on January 24, 1927 in Ralston, Oklahoma. James was a WWII veteran serving his country with the US Navy. He was a graduate of the Vallejo Naval School in Vallejo, California. On February 9, 1951, James and Grace were united in marriage in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He worked in many different professions but it was car sales and service he favored the most. James retired from Oakley Car Dealership in 1989 and had worked as parts manager for over twenty years. His hobbies also required work. James enjoyed things such as building model trains, repairing small engines, home remodeling and electrical repair. He loved to stay active enjoying his life and family. James was a member of the American Legion of Barnsdall and the First Baptist Church of Barnsdall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Grace Harris; one great-grandson, Alden Brown.
James is survived by four children, Ronald Harris and his wife, Wendy, of Newton, Kansas, Janet Bensinger and her husband, John, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leslie Garvin and her husband, Lonnie, of Hackett, Arkansas, John Harris and his wife, Michelle, of Argyle, Texas; six grandchildren, Kyle Graham, Kristen Brown, Nick Harris, Eric Garvin, Jason Garvin and Natasha Abraham; eight great grandchildren and other family members.
