Mr. John Fletcher fields, 95, formerly of Bartlesville, died at 10:50 A.M. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his home in St. Louis, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Fields was born at Elmore City, Oklahoma on July 14, 1918 the son of Seba Olin and Susan Jane (Crenshaw) Fields. He moved with his family at an early age to Thayer, Missouri and they later returned to Oklahoma and he graduated from Copan High School. He attended business college in Tulsa until entering the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his Honorable Discharge he attended Coin Technical School in Chicago, Illinois for training in refrigeration and television. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Kraybill on June 15, 1952 in Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Fields made their home in Bartlesville and Mrs. Fields was active as a lab technician at Jane Phillips Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Fields also operated John Fields Television Sales & Service in Bartlesville from the late 1950's until selling the business to Stan Norfleet in the early 1970's. Mr. Fields then operated John Fields Real Estate until 1979. Mr. and Mrs. Fields moved to the St. Louis, Missouri area to make their home near their son in December of 2002. Mrs. Fields preceded him in death on December 3, 2010 and Mr. Fields has continued his home in St. Louis. Mr. Fields had attended the First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville, was a member of the American Legion, AARP and was a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Fields is survived by one son, Mark Fields of St. Lois, Missouri, one brother, Frank Fields of Bartlesville, one sister, Sarah Applegate of Bartlesville, and one granddaughter, Grace Fields of St. Louis, Missouri. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
