John entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:55 pm. He was born December 25, 1927 in Stamps, Arkansas. He was the son of Paul and Nettie Kennedy. He served in the US Army as a technician in Honolulu, HI and after his discharge in 1947 went on to attend college at Tulsa University, receiving a bachelor's degree in Business. He went into business with his father Paul at Farmers Insurance in Bartlesville, where he settled and raised his family. He was an avid outdoorsman receiving numerous accolades over the years.
Services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, August 22, 2013 in the Walker-Brown Chapel. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #105 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
John is survived by his special friend Ms. Bernadine Knotts of Bartlesville, OK, three daughters; Patricia and husband Rodger Tanner of Bartlesville, Karen and Richard Weldon of Georgetown, TX, and Susan and James Huettenmueller of Bartlesville, OK. Two sons; Michael Kennedy of Houston, TX and Brian Kennedy and wife Regina of Bartlesville. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara June Martin of Allen, TX, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Kennedy, second wife, Donna Jean Kennedy, his parents, daughter, Mary Margaret Kennedy and one granddaughter, Rebecca Ruth Kennedy.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Comforting Hands Hospice and Bartlesville Care Center for all their loving care.
