Our community has lost a truly inspiring soul, Kathryn Chenoweth Reese, 59, who passed Tuesday morning. Born in Ardmore OK, Kathryn graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa, and then from Tulsa University.
The Guest Book is expired.
While raising her two daughters, Kathryn began teaching Sunday school, and soon felt called to attend Tulsa's Phillips Theological Seminary. In 2001 she became the minister for the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bartlesville, and in 2004 began a concurrent career at Jane Philips Medical Center, working in both patient relations and pastoral care. Through these roles Kathryn became widely known and loved in our community, however her greatest passion remained her family.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Virgil Reese; her daughter Laura, an artist and art advocate living in OKC; her other daughter, Helen, an OU student currently living in Germany; and her sister Amy Chenoweth and nephew Andrew Wolff of Springfield, MO.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bartlesville. The internment will be at the memorial garden of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Tulsa, at 2 p.m. In accordance with her wishes, financial memorials in Kathryn's name should be made to her Church, the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 428 South Seneca in Bartlesville.
