Leslie William Romine was reunited with his loved ones on September 27, 2013: his parents, Jess Marion Romine and Etta Zyra Wickham and the mother of his children, Dorothy Jean McIntosh.
Mr. Romine was born in Shaw, Kansas, and then was a lifelong Ochelatan. After graduation from Ochelata High School, Leslie served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII from 1943 to 1946 and then again as Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1951. Mr. Romine then became the rural mail carrier for Ochelata and covered a wide area for the country farms and ranchers. In his earlier years, Leslie was also active in the Ochelata Methodist Church. Mr. Romine lived a simple life and was a kind man who would literally give you "the shirt off his back". He had a strong love and compassion for animals and mourned the passing of many a cherished pet throughout his life, especially his dogs.
Those who remain behind now and wait to join him in the future include his wife Betty Romine of Ochelata; and his loved ones: his daughter Jeanne Lesley Romine Bailor of Wagoner, Oklahoma, two grandsons, Travis Donald Bailor of Bixby, Oklahoma and Mark William Bailor of Bonney Lake, Washington; two great-grandsons, Owen Travis Bailor and Jack Henry Bailor of Bixby, Oklahoma; daughter Rebecca Romine Barker of Tulsa and granddaughter, Lauren Romine Barker of Tulsa; and son John Mark Romine of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
The family rejoices in his homecoming and only grieves for the loss of his physical presence and will keep him in their hearts and prayers until they see him again.
"In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2
Graveside services will be held at the Ochelata Cemetery on Friday October 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM. in Ochelata, Oklahoma with Rev. Charles Cunningham officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Fisk-Leffler American Legion Post #334 of Ramona, Oklahoma. Graveside services and interment will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory of Bartlesville.
