Mr. Raymond George Rohlfing of Bartlesville, OK went to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 20, 2013 at the age of 89 years and 11 months.
Raymond was born on July 18, 1923 in St. Louis, MO to George and Mary Rohlfing. He was raised in Hermann, MO.
He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 through 1945 during WWII, in the Yukon territory in Alaska at outposts in Kokrines and Kaltag, controlling his own dog sled team.
After the war ended he went to school at Missouri University in Columbia Missouri, and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduation he was employed by the Missouri Highway Department as a materials inspector, where he met his wife of 63 years Bonnie York.
Raymond took a position with the Monsanto Chemical Company in St. Louis in 1951. Later he took a position with Phillips Petroleum at the Research Center and moved to Bartlesville with his wife and two sons in 1957. He worked for Phillips in Antwerp, Belgium from 1973-1976. Raymond retired from from Phillips in 1985 after 28 years of service.
Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, motorcycles, and other sporting activities in his early life, and enjoyed fishing with his sons and buddies after retirement.
Raymond was very civic minded. He volunteered as a Woolaroc Docent, a chauffeur for the Bartlesville Fly-In, and at the Bartlesville Community Center. He was a member of the American Legion and the Bartlesville Sportsman's Club. He also enjoyed the Friday Forums at the Arvest Bank.
Raymond's trademark was his trusted Jumpsuit.
Raymond is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home. Two sons, Mike Rohlfing of Tulsa, and Gary Rohlfing and his wife Tamra of Ava, MO. One Grandson, Thomas Rohlfing and his wife Heather of Jonesboro, AR. One Granddaughter, Angela Rohlfing Wilson and her husband Jeremy of Bella Vista, AR. One Step Grandson, Ryan Grisham of Jessieville, AR. Two Great Granddaughters, Brook and Bailey Mattison of Bella Vista, AR. One Step Great Grandson Logan Grisham of Jessieville, AR. Raymond was preceded in Death by his parents.
Private services were held and full military rites were accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
