Robert Lee Parrett (Bob), 78, of Dewey, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wed. evening. Bob was born December, 18, 1934, in Jackson township, Washington county, OK, the son of Dee Rice Parrett and Katheryn Amanda (Sisney) Parrett. He was raised and educated in the area and he graduated from Dewey High School in 1954. Bob worked at the Dewey Cement Plant as a chemist before joining the army in 1957 and was stationed for two years at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX. He was reactivated from the reserves during the 1961 Berlin Crisis and was stationed at Gray Air Force base in Copperas Cove, TX. Bob was united in marriage with Katherine Ruth Purdum on October 14, 1957, in Killeen, TX. The family moved back to the area in 1964 and Bob joined Phillips Petroleum Company, he was a security officer for most of his career and retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. Bob and Kay celebrated 55 years of marriage last year.
Bob always loved country music and he played his guitar and sang in bands and with friends for fun. Bob enjoyed vacationing in Branson, MO, several times a year. He was an avid OU football fan. He loved crappie fishing. He and his fishing buddies knew all of the good fishing spots and they regularly fished at area lakes and at Grand Lake. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Kay; three sons, Joseph Dale Parrett and wife Laronda of Bartlesville, Mark James Parrett and wife Janet of Bartlesville and Paul Dee Parrett and wife Amy of Broken Arrow; one brother Lloyd Levi Parrett and wife Norma Lea of Bartlesville; one sister Thelma Jean Shipley of Tulsa; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; ten step grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Donald Ray Parrett and one grandson Corey Lee Parrett.
Visitation will be on Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Davis Family Funeral Home, (918-534-3030), 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Dewey Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 15, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Dewey Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Joel Hied and Reverend Lloyd Parrett will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dewey Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the James T. Teel American Legion Post 105. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Family Funeral Home.
