Robert Theodore Werkman, 97, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and formerly a longtime Bartlesville resident passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012. He was born June 11, 1915 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Chester Hamlin and Cecile Baker Werkman.
Robert graduated from Iowa State University in 1938 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He joined the Research Department of Phillips Petroleum Company in 1940. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army serving with the 7th Armored Division Artillery. He sailed for Europe on D-Day in 1944 and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Robert had a reserved personality and was a man of few words, but he kept family and friends entertained with his dry sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Margaret E. Werkman. Robert is survived by his son, Mike Werkman of Hot Springs Village.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville.
