Roger Ray Lowe was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on July 7, 1933. He was the son of Raymond Denzil Lowe and Edna May Day Lowe and was the second of four children. He was raised in the Chicago area and attended Whittier Grad School. Because of Roger's asthma, the family relocated to Phoenix in 1946. A hard-working young man, Roger delivered newspapers and set up pins at the bowling alley before automatic pinsetters. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1950. Following high school, Roger was employed by aviation pioneer Garrett AiResearch as a machinist and was involved in this business his entire working life. He later attended Arizona State University part-time, earning BA, MS and PhD degrees in Business Administration.
Roger married Ella Lowe in 1952 and they had two children, Roger Ray, Jr. and Alicia Marguerite. That marriage ended and Roger married Phyllis Lowe and adopted her son David. That marriage also ended and he later married Arlene Lowe. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 21, 1991. Roger became a devoted member of the Church, was ordained a High Priest and served as a temple ordinance worker in the Mesa Arizona Temple. When Arlene became ill, Roger retired in 1992 to care for her full time. She passed away in 1993.
Roger moved to Bartlesville, OK in October 1996 and served as an ordinance worker in the Dallas Temple one week each month. He was an active member of the Bartlesville First Ward of the Church and served as the membership clerk as well as a very dedicated home teacher. One of his assigned families was Raymond and Evelyn Pierce. During Raymond's extended illness, Roger kindly ministered to him and his wife. When Raymond died on September 20, 2000, Roger continued as a source of strength and support to Evelyn. Their friendship would later blossom and they were united in marriage on January 10, 2001 being sealed in the Oklahoma City Temple one year later on January 10, 2002. Roger and Evelyn served together as temple ordinance workers at the Oklahoma City Temple from 2002 to 2010. When Roger was unable to continue at the temple, he served in various other church callings as his health would permit and was one of the Ward Greeters, warmly welcoming members to Sacrament Meeting each Sunday morning. He passed away on Wednesday afternoon, September 26 at age 79.
