Rosie Mae Jones, 87, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services for Rosie Jones will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2013 at Reborn Fellowship of Bartlesville. The Reverend Earl Jones and the Reverend Dr. Timothy Jackson will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma, under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home of Bartlesville. Mrs. Jones will lie in state Sunday, 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rosie was born April 1, 1926 at Wagoner, Oklahoma to Roe Smiles and Bessie (Rogers) Smiles. Rosie met and later married Earl Jones. Mr. Jones preceded his wife in death. Rosie was a homemaker and an active member of Greater First Baptist Church. She was on the Advisory Board of the Community Environmental Board; member of the Westside Community Buying Club and Porte Soire Ladies Club. Rosie loved cooking & sewing and getting together with her children and grandchildren.
Rosie is survived her children, Glenda Mitchell and Janet Thompson, both of Tulsa, Darrell Jones of Bartlesville, Stanley Jones of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Steven Jones of Bartlesville, Christy Jones of Bartlesville and Rosemary Jones Towers and her husband, Otis of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Shirley Jones, Earl Jones, Jr. and Ray Charles Jones; siblings, Jeremy Smiles, Lawrence Smiles, John Henry Smiles, Azilea Rutherford, Bessie Greene and Addie Smiles; and grandchildren, Terrance Jones, Derrick Jones and Ruby Harris.
