Her father, Fred passed away when Shirley was only 4 years old. In 1952, her mother married John Kurowski. After many years of moving around to find work, the family was transferred to Bartlesville. Shirley spent her life being a homemaker, wife, and loving mother. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, painting, reading, playing softball, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered by many for her delicious home cooking during the time she spent helping her mother Ruth Kurowski at Ruth's Country Kitchen and during the brief time she owned Ruth's Country Cooking.
