Terry Wayne Covey, age 60, died at home with his wife by his side on Monday, November 5, 2012, six years after being diagnosed with cancer.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born on June 12, 1952 in Nowata, the son of Robert and Bonnie Covey, where he resided for most of his life.
Terry worked as a Safety Coordinator for Union Pacific Railroad's Wichita Service Unit for 38 years until retiring just 4 months ago. He was a member of Cornerstone Community Church, a league-bowler in Bartlesville and Nowata, and a fanatic, bordering-on-obsessive, follower of the Oklahoma Sooners.
Terry was married to Sarabeth Long Covey in January 1984 and they enjoyed 29 never-boring years together. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jed Green, of the home; a daughter, Bethany Covey, of Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Ronnie Covey, of Havana, KS, and Danny Covey, of Enid, OK; two beloved dogs, Izzy and Sandy, both of the home; and a plethora of family and friends by whom he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Hillside Christian Church's Family Life Center, located in Nowata. All are welcome to come and go, or come and stay, as long as you'd like. There will be a brief introduction by pastors Derrick Bohn and Terry Harmon, a pot luck dinner, and lots of time to enjoy your favorite memories of Coach. Dress is casual, though you-know-who would prefer crimson. Cremation arrangements were by the Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.
