Walter Ramonet Evans passed from this life on Tuesday, April 1 in Centerville, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Martha Sellers Evans.

Born April 29, 1917, the youngest of four children, to Artemisa Ramonet and John Hewitt Evans in Detroit, MI, Walter graduated from Lake Alfred (FL) High School and from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in petroleum engineering.
In 1939 Walter began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company. While with Phillips, Walter worked in Bartlesville, OK, the Burbank Field, Houston, TX, and Winter Haven, FL, as well as traveling to South America and Europe. During his career Walter was awarded two patents related to petroleum production.
Following his retirement in 1982, Walter and Mary traveled extensively. Walter was active in the Washington County, OK Republican Party and served as a VISTA volunteer.
Walter loved spending time with his family and growing roses for Mary. Walter is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jean and Terry Tarr of Centerville, OH; daughter Nancy Evans also of Centerville; son and daughter-in-law John and Joyce Evans of Tulsa, OK; grandsons Michael Tarr and David Tarr and his wife Lauren; and great-grandchildren Emerson and Beckett Tarr.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on May 3 at Christ Episcopal Church in Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers can be made to the American Red Cross, 370 West 1st St, Dayton, OH 45409.
