Wanda Louise Jack, 83, of Dewey, died at 8:51 P.M. on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jack will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with her son-in-law, Rev. Doyle Hutcherson officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Casket escorts will include Clarence Sumpter, Vernie Russell, Carl Sumpter, Mike Sumpter, Joe Cummings, Richard Jones, Chase Wade and Timothy Dyer.
Mrs. Jack was born at Pawhuska, Oklahoma on March 9, 1929 the daughter of Louis C. and Sena Hula (Woodard) Sumpter. She grew up in the Oglesby area where she attended grade school and then graduated from Ramona High School in 1947. She was married to Floyd Leroy Jack on August 12, 1948 in Oglesby. They made their home in Stillwater while attending Oklahoma A & M and she was employed as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. They returned to Bartlesville until moving to Fort Bliss, Texas during Mr. Jack's military service. Following his service they returned to Stillwater to make their home and later established their home in Bartlesville. Mrs. Jack was active with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until her retirement in 1984 and Mr. Jack was an educator in the Bartlesville school system until his retirement in 1983. They continued their home in Bartlesville until moving to their current home north of Dewey in 1981. She was a member of the Methodist faith. Following their retirement, both Mr. and Mrs. Jack were active in Senior Olympics and she won medals in race walking, discus, shot put and javelin. She also loved to sew and crochet and in earlier years had made the College High School twirlers pep rally uniforms and their show uniforms. She also made the Christmas parade outfits for the Union National Bank's tellers.
Mrs. Jack is survived by her husband, Floyd L. Jack, two daughters, Dianna Hutcherson and husband Doyle of Mannford, and Linda Dyer and husband David of Ponca City, one son, William Allen "Billy" Jack of Evans, Colorado, two brothers, Clarence Sumpter and wife Juanita and Carl Sumpter and wife Thelma all of Oglesby, one sister, Margaret Russell and husband Vernie of Tulsa, six grandchildren, Vanessa Burns and husband T.C., Summer Hudson and husband Jeremy, Abbigail Hutcherson, Jackie Robinson and husband Shane, Stephanie Dyer and DavaLynn Joy and husband Matt, , 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sena and Louis C. Sumpter, two sisters, Pearl Ford and Merle Davis, four brothers, Earl Sumpter, Dearle Sumpter, Irvin Sumpter and Elmer Sumpter and one great grandson, Nicholas Robinson.
