Wiley R. Scott, 90, longtime resident of Bartlesville, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the East Cross United Methodist Church in Bartlesville with Pastor Justin Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at the Stumpff Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established in honor of Mr. Wiley R. Scott and contributions may be mailed to the East Cross United Methodist Church Building Fund: 820 S. Madison Blvd, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006 or Dearing Christian Church Youth Ministry: 302 S. Independence St, Dearing, Kansas 67340.
Wiley was born on January 5, 1922 in Caney, Kansas to Wiley R. and Ethel P. (Shafer) Scott. He graduated from Caney High School and joined the US Army. He was a WWII Veteran, serving during the invasion of Omaha Beach. In 1927, Wiley married Dolores Codding of Copan, Oklahoma and of this union three children were born. After his discharge from the Army, he worked as a heavy equipment construction mechanic and later in aircraft construction in Oklahoma, Kansas and California. Wiley retired from TRW/Reda Pump of Bartlesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Connie J. Deckard in 2002; one sister, Lucille Bright; his wives, Betty Scott in 1986, Maxine Scott in 1994 and JoAnn Scott in 2010.
Wiley is survived by his children, Glenda Chaffee and her husband, Tony, of Bartlesville, Duane Scott and his wife, Patti, of Edmond, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Gary Deckard of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren, Tony D. Chaffee, Jackie King, Wyla Wilson, Doug Scott, Rick Deckard, Gary Shon Deckard and Shannon Berry; fourteen great-grandchildren, Landry Evans, Eli King, Hannah King, Tristan King, Brandon Wilson, Travis Wilson, Sammie Scott, Nathan Scott, Tyler Deckard, Kelsey Deckard, Nick Deckard, Spencer Deckard, Doyle Berry and Denise Berry; two great, great-grandchildren, Olivia Deckard and Madelyn Deckard, six step children, twelve step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
