Yvonne Harper, 77, went home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday March 6th 2014. She was surrounded by her family at home in Bartlesville.
Yvonne was born the daughter of Jim and Marie Dillard Greenland on December 29, 1936, in Mountain Pine, Arkansas. The family moved to Collinsville, Oklahoma for a short while before settling in Borger, Texas. Yvonne attended and graduated from Borger High School. While she was working at the city drugstore, Yvonne met Bob who was working for the local movie theater. The young sweethearts were united in marriage on December 30, 1952, just a day after Yvonne's birthday, in Clovis, NM. In 1957, they were transferred to Bartlesville with Phillips Petroleum Co. where they raised their children.
Yvonne was very active with her children while they were growing up, and she was especially proud of her grandchildren whom she loved to spoil before sending home to their parents. Yvonne and Bob have been faithful members of Bartlesville First Nazarene Church since 1957 where her beaming smile would greet old friends and new visitors alike. She enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling leagues. She also loved to garage sale and "discover" treasures where others might see cast-offs.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Bob of the home; three children Dianne Shackleton and David of Atlanta, GA, Debra Crossland and Robert of Kansas City, MO, and Michael Harper and Amy of Bartlesville, one brother Bill Greenland and Janice of Alberta, Canada; one sister Lois Gheen of Bartlesville; six grandchildren (Brian, Kerrie, Nicole, Ashley, Rachel and Kaytlyn) and six great grandchildren (Ziva, Zack, Jessie, Megan, Brooke and McKenzey). She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
The family will receive friends at the First Church of the Nazarene on Monday March 10, 2014 starting at 2pm. Friends may also view and sign the guest book at the Davis Family Funeral home on Sunday March 9, 2014 from 1-6 p.m. Online condolences may be left and viewed at www.davisfamilyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Youth Group, 3650 SE Adams Blvd., Bartlesville, Ok 74006
