Ruth F. Proctor, 90, of Dewey, died Thursday evening in Bartlesville.
Ruth was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Dewey, the daughter of John William Stanley and Julia Ann Gannon. She was raised and educated in Dewey. She met her husband at the Melonie Mill dance hall in Bartlesville.
Ruth was united in holy matrimony with Miller A. Proctor August 30th, 1941 in Dewey. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage together.
Ruth loved the outdoors and was blessed with a green thumb. She enjoyed growing all kinds of flowers and vegetables in her garden, especially tomatoes and cucumbers.
Ruth was an active member of the Dewey Christian Church. She served on the benevolence committee serving food to bereaved families, as well as singing in the choir. Ruth also loved being in the church nursery and helping with vacation bible school. She cherished spending time with her family especially around Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Ruth loved her big family and will be dearly missed.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Donald Proctor and Wanda of Dewey, Elsie Kite and Sonny of Dewey, and Anita McQuaiq of Beverly Hills, FL; her brother William Junior "Dick" Stanley and Helen of West Plains, MO; eleven grandchildren, as well as five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Stanley and Julia Gannon; her husband Miller Proctor; four brothers Clyde, Glen, Cleo, and Marvin Stanley, and one sister Ruby Moon; her son Wayne Proctor and stepson Jimmy Proctor.
Ruth's family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Monday, April 28, from 6-8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Dewey Christian Church. Pastor Casey Parham will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dewey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.
