Edward Franklin "Jack" McClarnon, 87, died at 7:20 AM, Thursday, July 17, 2014, in Dewey, Oklahoma
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Military rites will be conducted by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105.
Edward Franklin "Jack" McClarnon was born May 26, 1927 in Hunnewell, Kansas to Alva Daniel and May Emma (Langdale) McClarnon. He attended grade school at Hunnewell, Kansas and his freshman year at South Haven, Kansas; he attended 10 thru 12th grade and graduated high school at Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1944. Jack served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy from June 1948 to June 1952 when he received his honorable discharge. Jack attended Okmulgee Tech in 1953 and 1954 where he studied electronics. He was married to Barbara Nadine Sturm on January 1, 1953 and she preceded his in death in June 1958. He was employed with Matthews TV in Bartlesville for one year and then went to work for Cities Service Oil Company in June 1955. He retired on January 1, 1983. After working for 28 years in the geophysical division. Jack was married to Maxine Claypool on August 19, 1960 and she preceded him in death in 2001. Jack enjoyed family and keeping up the home and yard. He enjoyed his classic cars, going to car shows and made many good friends at the shows and car club members. Jack was a member of the Disciples Christian Church, N.E. Oklahoma Nash Metropolitan Car Club, Oldies and Goodies Car Club in Bartlesville and a Life Member of the V.F.W. Dewey Post 1009.
Survivors include two daughters Jackie Lynn Daigle of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Glenna Wood of Tomball, Texas; two sons Robert Alan McClarnon of Mannford, Oklahoma and Leon Loren Claypool of Houston, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack was also preceded in death by his parents, special friend Annette "Jim" O'Rourke; one brother Bill McClarnon and three sisters Betty Gile, Dorothy Holly and Peggy McClarnon.
