James "Jim" Schriber passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 in the Walker-Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike McDougan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
James Henry Schriber was born July 16, 1928 in Wichita, KS to James Phillips and Lula (Eccles) Schriber. Jim married Rose Cathryn Behne on September 10, 1950. He received his degree from Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in 1950. Following graduation he worked at Baroid. In 1951 he started his career as a Petroleum Geologist with Phillips Petroleum Company. During his career, he worked in Texas, Libya, Nigeria, Norway, and England. He made his home in Bartlesville in 1981 and retired in 1986 with 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, tennis and basketball. Jim could find humor in the most difficult situations, always keeping a positive attitude and staying upbeat. He was a lover of life and passed that excitement to his sons and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife Rose Schriber of the family home. Two sons: Don and his wife Christine Schriber of Pittsford, NY and Steven and his wife Candee Schriber of Denver, CO. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Jameson, Jacqueline, Rosalynd, Robert, Micayla and two great grandchildren; Archer and Aiden. One sister-in-law, Edith Schriber, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dale and Dean Schriber and sister-in-law Catherine Schriber.
