Mr. David Warren Miller, 84, of Dewey, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday at the Medicalodge of Dewey.

Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dewey United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Robart officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Casket escorts will include Lee Hamilton, Derrick Gore, Marc Rea, Richard Benge, Darrell Paulson and George McAfee.

Mr. Miller was born at Gary, Indiana on December 10, 1924 to Ivan Purl Miller and Mary Lucille (Harris) Miller. He grew up and received his education at Napanee, Indiana and graduated from high school there. He served with the United States Navy entering in June 1943 and serving during World War II. Following his Honorable Discharge on March 1, 1946, he attended Purdue University at West Lafayette, Indiana where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Miller was married to Evelyn Lucile Miller at Tulsa on August 31, 1951. Mr. Miller was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville and was transferred to Borger, Texas for several years. He transferred back to Bartlesville and retired as a research chemist after 34 years of service. Following his retirement from Phillips he became a greeter at Wal Mart for 13 years. Mr. Miller enjoyed square dancing, family reunions and bowling. He was also a faithful member of the Dewey United Methodist Church where he was active in the United Methodist Men and the Together Sunday School Class. Mrs. Miller preceded him in death on April 26, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, David Lynn Miller and his wife Marilyn of Urbana, Ohio and Stephen Warren Miller and his wife Gayle of Bartlesville, two sisters, Katie Wilson and her husband Ron of West Lafayette, Indiana and Mary Lu Molho and her husband Manny of Rochester, Indiana, a brother-in-law, Wade Richmond of Indiana, a special sister-in-law, Gay Cooper of Bartlesville.8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Richmond.
