James Leroy "Jim" Hodgkinson, 78, died Tuesday at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010 in the First Christian Church with Mr. Dennis Voth officiating. Services were directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorials have been established with either the First Christian Church, 520 SE Osage, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003 or the Boy Scouts 520 SE Quapaw, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003 for those who wish to donate in his memory.
James Leroy Hodgkinson was born on January 19, 1932 at Parsons, Kansas the son of Glen and Audrey Viola (Bowman) Hodgkinson. He was raised at Parsons and graduated from high school there. He also graduated from The University of Kansas with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He served in the US Navy and was discharged in 1955. He married Laverne Johnston on May 31, 1953. He had worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the USS Sperry reunion group.
Jim is survived by his wife Laverne of the home, two daughters, Nancy Dowe and her husband Roger and Catherine Shepherd and her husband Mike both of Broken Arrow, one sister Wanda Hevel and her husband Lewis of Parsons, Kansas and four grandchildren, Patrick Murrell, Amy Kate Murrell, Rachel Dowe and Andrew Dowe. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Sarah Rebekah Dowe and Ryan Murrell.
