He is survived by a sister, Maureen Atkins of Santa Barbara, California; three children, Janine Roberds Lehman, and husband, John, of Oklahoma City, John Roberds, and wife, Patricia, of Tulsa and Judith Roberds of Ponca City. He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, Sanford and wife, Melissa, and children Lauren and John, Brian and wife, Staci, and new twins born May 4, Jack Sanford II and Patrick, and James Alan II, all of Tulsa, Jennifer and husband, Chris Friend, and children Meredith, Caleb, Will and Henry of Yukon and Jack Lehman and wife, Kelly, and daughter, Stella, of Denver. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Jack and Elizabeth raised their family in Dewey, Oklahoma and later moved to Bartlesville. He was a long time member of Dewey United Methodist Church. He moved to Bethany after the death of his wife, Elizabeth. Jack was a Design Engineer in the oil and gas industry for many years. He served in the Army Air Corps late in WWII as an instructor pilot. That love of flying continued as he flew light airplanes and gliders until later in life. He was a highly skilled woodworker and enjoyed making furniture of all sizes and many mementos for family and friends.
A special thank you goes to Senior Care Services of Oklahoma City and especially to Johnnie Beaittie, his caregiver for the past three years. She became a part of the family and provided loving, skillful care. We appreciate her very much.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, on Saturday, May 8, 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Humane Society of Ponca City.
Services are under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com.
