Dr. Perry Marteny, Research Physicist and most recently Elastomer Scientist with Conoco Phillips Technology Center died Friday January 7, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday January 15, 2011 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bartlesville with Minister Kathryn Reese officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Born October 14, 1954 to Elvira Steffen Marteny and Kenneth Perry Marteny in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. Dr. Marteny attended high school in Texas, attained his Bachelors is Physics, and PhD. in Polymer Science at The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio in 1982. In 1979 he married Christa Drugan in Silver Lake, Ohio. They have one son Jack Drew Marteny, currently a student at N.E.O.
After completion of his PhD., they moved to White Meadow Lake, New Jersey were Dr. Marteny worked for Allied Chemicals. In the mid 1980's moved back to Akron, OH and he began working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, a career that spanned 20 years. They moved to Zionsville, Indiana to work for General Cable then to Rapid City, South Dakota to serve as Physicist and Recruiter with the Schools of the Minds and Engineering. They moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 2008 to work for Conoco Phillips. Dr. Marteny's many interests included Philosophy, music, science, and computer programming.
Survivors include his mother Elvira McCormish of Ohio, wife Christa and son Jack Drew Marteny of the home; sisters Heidi Miller of Ohio, Tammy Marteny of Ohio; brothers Clause Marteny of South Carolina, Kenny Marteny of Ohio; mother-in-law Carol Drugan of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews for whom he cared deeply.
