Christy McCabe Obituary

Christy Jo (Barbee) McCabe, 54, resident of rural Dewey, died at 10:28 AM on Thursday April 4, 2013.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McCabe will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday April 8, 2013 at the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ with Mr. Dave Hammonds of the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. McCabe was born September 21, 1958 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Grover D. and Charlene D. (Gay) Barbee. She was raised and received her education at Bartlesville Public Schools graduating from College High School with the class of 1976. She made her home in the Bartlesville area all of her adult life. She was married to Douglas G. McCabe on July 29, 2000 at Eureka Springs Arkansas, and they have made their home North of Dewey for the past 10 years. She was a very active member of the Adams Blvd. Church of Christ where she was a teacher in the Sonshine School program, and also as a teacher in the 2 year old Bible class, and had also served on the decoration committee for the past few years. She was a volunteer for the Washington County SPCA, at Jane Phillips Medical Center, and at Wesleyan Christian School for her grandson Wyatt's Watson's Class. Her hobbies were gardening in general, and growing flowers, and she was best known as a very thoughtful, considerate and loving person.
Mrs. McCabe is survived by her husband Douglas McCabe of the home in Dewey, by one daughter Mrs. Jamie Watson and husband Kevin, and by a step daughter; Miranda McCabe of Knoxville, Tennessee, and by three grandchildren Wyatt Watson, of Bartlesville, Kensington Dawn Coble and Keithan Carston McCabe both of Knoxville, Tennessee, and by her parents Grover & Charlene Barbee of Bartlesville, and by two brothers, Roger Barbee and wife Dianne of Coweta, and Hal and Terri Barbee of Hominy Oklahoma.
