Joseph L. Bush, 84, retired Bartlesville Fire Department, died at 12:33 AM on Thursday April 11, 2013 in Claremore.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday April 19, 2013, in the Stokes Cemetery in rural Bartlesville. Military rites will be conducted by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements were directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Joseph Leonard Bush was born December 6, 1928 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to C.E. and Ruby Alice (Hopkins) Bush. He was raised and received his education in Dewey, Oklahoma. Mr. Bush was married to Jackie Seamans on September 9, 1950 at Bartlesville. He entered the U.S. Army on March 24, 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bush was honorably discharged on March 11, 1954. After his military service he moved back to Bartlesville, and began his career with the Bartlesville Fire Department where he was employed from 1951 to his retirement in 1973. Mr. Bush also worked at REDA Pump Company as a security guard. He worked at Gunter Drug and for Kenneth Adams as a currier and on the Adams Ranch. Mr. Bush was Commander with the Bartlesville V.F.W. # 989 from 1985 to 1987. He was a silversmith and taught silver smithing and was a member of Osage Hills Gem and mineral society.
Survivors include his daughter Jan White of Bartlesville; two granddaughters Jayleen Mayes and Cheryl Stumpe; two great-granddaughters Jasmyne and Olivia Mayes; one sister Alice Coke of Dewey, Oklahoma and a close special friend Delores Adams and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bush was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jackie Bush; one daughter Joanna Lynn Bush; one grandson Aaron Stumpe; two sisters Rosabel Crawford and Bonnie Wittmer; two brothers Elbert Bush and Frank Burton.
