William G. "Buster" Lunsford, 67, of Nowata, died at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 15, 2013 in Nowata.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with Mr. Larry Miller of Warriors for Christ officiating. Graveside services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Buster may do so to 10-33 Emergency Team P.O. Box 815, Nowata, Oklahoma 74048.
William Gordon "Buster" Lunsford, Jr., was born May 9, 1945 at Nowata, Oklahoma to William Gordon and Elva Cleo (Hewitt) Lunsford. He was a lifetime resident of Nowata, attending school there. Buster worked at various jobs in the Nowata area mostly working with animals at the South Coffeyville Stock Yards, Rodeos and the Nowata County Fairgrounds. Buster visited the City Drug Store every day visiting with Wayne Clark and the ladies in the drug store. He also visited the ladies in the Arvest Bank and Star Video. Buster was a friend and was well known to most everyone in Nowata. Buster was given a Nowata Football Letter Jacket by the community for his involvement in the community work such as raising and lowering the flag at the high school football games.
Survivors include; two sisters Ruth H. Sherrill and Margaret Hughes both of Nowata; three brothers Curtis Lee Lunsford of Nowata, Billy Eugene Lunsford of Delaware, and Eldon Merle Lunsford of Nowata and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Melvin Harold Lunsford. Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
