Mr. Willis Wade "Blackie" Gay Sr., 86, of Bartlesville, died at 9 P.M. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Adams Parc facility in Bartlesville.

Funeral services for Mr. Gay will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Oglesby Assembly of God Church with Rev. Randy Keller officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Ceremonial Detail of the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Gay was born on March 26, 1927 at Okesa, Oklahoma to Bill and Ethel Bell (Miller) Gay. He grew up and received his education in the Okesa area and had worked on area ranches, dairies and had done dry wall work. He entered the U.S. Army on June 13, 1945 and served until receiving his Honorable Discharge on October 29, 1946. He was married to Josephine B. (Cox) Boynton on December 22, 1947 at Nowata. Mr. Gay was employed at a local lumber year and then began his employment with the National Zinc Smelter in 1951. He was active as a pipefitter there until his retirement in the early 1990's. He loved to fish, was active as a woodworker and was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Gay is survived by his wife, Josephine B. Gay of Bartlesville, three sons, Willis Wade Gay Jr. of Bartlesville, George Edward Gay and wife Michelle of Pawhuska and Richard Alan Gay and wife Jeanne of Skiatook, one daughter, Linda Jean Buford and husband Bill of Bartlesville, one sister, Margie Horner and husband W.T. of San Antonio, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and one sister.
