Donald B. Pennington began his earthly life July 25, 1949, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus to begin his new life September 22, 2013.
Donald was born to Basil Pennington and Floy (Beverage) Pennington in Kansas City, Missouri.
Donald served in the United States Air Force
attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a Vietnam veteran. He was proud to have served his country. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years driving more than a million safe miles.
He deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son Chad Pennington in 2010. He is survived by his son, John Pennington and his wife Tracy of Huntsville, Alabama; his daughter, Holly Pennington-Riner of Sibley, Mo.; his twin brother Ronald Pennington of Ozark, Mo.; his sister Jean Ann Ogden of Independence, Mo., and his daughter-in-law Lisa Pennington of Kansas City, Mo. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 25 at New Salem Funeral Home 1823 Blue Mills Road, Independence, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26 at Village Heights Community of Christ located at 1009 Farview Drive, Independence, MO 64056.
