Roy Eugene "Gene" Coffman, 93, Grain Valley, Mo., passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.

Gene was born June 5, 1920, in Woodbine, Iowa. He was a U.S. Army
Veteran of World War II
. After the war, he served at a military hospital in Galesburg, Ill., and then as a guard at the military prison in Leavenworth. He was a heavy equipment operator at the RLDS Farms near Atherton, Mo., for twenty-six years and retired in 1985. He was a member of the RLDS church, where he held the office of Priest and sang in the choir. He was a devoted father to his three sons who never missed one of their wrestling matches and helped for many years as a Boy Scout leader. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Willa Belle Coffman; and son, Steve Coffman.
He is survived by sons, Galyn Coffman and wife, Denise, Independence, Mo., and Darwin Coffman and wife, Jeannette, Grain Valley, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Trudy Coffman, Galesburg, Ill.; grandchildren, Amber Myers and husband, Chad, Hopedale, Ill., Hilary McNeil and husband, Zach, Olathe, Kan., Jason Coffman and wife, Amber, Independence, Mo., Keri Coffman, Blue Springs, Mo., Joe Coffman and wife, Angie, Odessa, Mo., and Jennifer Jung and husband, Josh, Independence, Mo.; sister, Lois Seeley and husband, Pat, Perry, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
