Robert Wayne Gibler Obituary
Robert Wayne Gibler, 92, of Independence, Mo., passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Gibler was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Independence, the son of Walter and Flossie (Crews) Gibler. He was a 1939 graduate of William Chrisman High School and graduated from Northrop Aviation with an A & E in Mechanics. He has lived in Hawthorne, Calif., and Kansas City, Kan. He retired from TWA in 1980. He was a flight instructor for more than 40 years at the Independence Memorial Airport and at the East Kansas City Airport (Grain Valley). He attended East Side Baptist Church in recent years. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in Guam. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Gibler on May 30, 2013; and a son, Gary Gibler in 1985.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverlee Barnes (Duane), a son, Ted Gibler (Merrie), and two sisters, Mildred Friend and Delores (Johnston) Wade, all of Independence; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two on the way; and four stepgrandchildren.

A memorial service in honor of Bob will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at East Side Baptist Church, 19901 E. Missouri 78, Independence. You are asked to dress casual. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, with his wife next to son's grave.

The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for their loving care to dad and the family.
