Bernice Mildred (Schroeder) Alber Obituary

Bernice Mildred Alber was born June 11, 1920, in Doniphan, Nebraska, to Edward and Clara Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and taught for one year in Rosedale, Neb. Bernice was married to Clarence Ernest Alber on May 31, 1941. They made their home in Independence. For 77 years, she has been an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She joined the Ladies Aid in 1943 and was still active in Anna Circle. At 98, she was still attending church and Bible Class. She may be remembered for having taught at Peter Rabbit Preschool for many years. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clarence Alber; a sister, Loretta Alber; and a brother, Ernest Schroeder. She was called to her eternal home on August 8, 2018.

A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. service, on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main St., Independence, MO 64050. Her body will be laid to rest at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
