Ruby Darlene (Turpin) Rogers Obituary

Ruby Darlene Rogers, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on July 8, 2018.

Ruby was born on May 7, 1932, in Gravois Mills, Missouri. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1951. On June 27, 1953 she married Loarn Rogers in Kansas City. They lived in Kansas City before they moved to Independence where they spent the rest of their lives together. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Independence where she was a deacon's wife and Sunday School teacher.

She worked at Sears in Kansas City before she became a Home Maker. Later, she worked at the Independence Examiner for many years.

She enjoyed shopping, traveling, baking and her grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor that her family loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Della Turpin; her husband and her brothers, Darrel and Billy Turpin.

Survivors include her four children, Danny Rogers (Lorie) of Independence, Sherry Hostetter (Glen) of Sibley, Steve Rogers (Marta) of Independence, and Tammy Donnici (Charley) of Liberty; two sisters, Violet Hayes of Sedalia, and Joan Wilson of Versailles; eight grandchildren, Amanda Rogers, Jeremy Hostetter, Lauren Rogers, Joe Hostetter, Michael Rogers, Heather Petty, Alexander Donnici and Madeline Donnici; six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at First Assembly of God in Independence. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Entombment Swan Lake Memorial Park.
