Shirley S. Winkinhofer, 77, Independence, Mo., passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.|
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday before the service at the chapel.

Shirley was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Independence, Mo., and graduated from Central High School. She worked at Armco Steel for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1985. She was best known for her ceramics shop, Wink's Ceramics, which she owned and operated from her home for over forty years. She taught ceramics classes and served as a judge at many competitions. She was a member of the Ceramics Guild and Community of Christ Good Shepherd Congregation. She was also a painter and gardener. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, George Winkinhofer; son, Kenneth Winkinhofer; sister, Betty Stover; and brother, Robert Stover.
She is survived by daughter, Sherry Winkinhofer, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Winkinhofer, both of Smithville, Mo.; cousins Viola Berry, John Stevenson and Jim Resch, all of Blue Springs, Mo., and Jan Jones and Pat Cook, both of Independence, Mo.
