Kenneth Leroy Scott Obituary
Kenneth Leroy Scott, 87, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the church. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.

Kenneth was born on March 1, 1927, in Greenfield, Mo., to Ira Eugene Scott and Lucy Belle (Stark) Scott. Kenneth was united in marriage to Lorraine Frances (Cook) Scott on June 8, 1945; the same year he graduated from Greenfield High School. He entered the Armed Forces 7 days after their wedding. After returning from service, he spent time farming in Greenfield, and doing factory work in Racine, Wis. In 1953, they moved to Independence, Mo., then made Blue Springs, Mo., their permanent home in 1960. He worked for McLean Truck Lines until his retirement in 1986.

Kenneth and Lorraine were lifelong members of First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. He was ordained as a deacon in 1961. He spent the rest of his life in active service to our Lord Jesus Christ. Whenever there was a need, Kenneth was eager to serve. He drove shuttle buses for youth and seniors, picked up donations for the food pantry, and would distribute to shelters throughout the city when needed.

He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and saw two sons become Eagle Scouts. Many activities and camp outs were enjoyed over the years. He and Lorraine spent their lives together loving 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, his parents, and grandson, John Michael Scott.

Kenneth is survived by his children, daughter, Lee Anne Kistenmacher and husband, Eric, of Gig Harbor, Wash., son, David Scott and wife, Suzanne, of Westminster, Colo., son, Myron Scott and wife, Laurie, of Independence, Mo., and daughter, Melissa Thomas and husband, Tom, of Olathe, Kan.; sisters, Avanelle Wilson, Greenfield, Mo., and Nancy Brown, Stockton, Mo.; brother, JT Scott, Independence, Mo.; grandchildren, Jill (Sean) Meade, Kim (Kevin) Harris, Kenneth Andrew Scott, Becky (Roger) Strutton, Karryn (Jordan) Wilcox, Blake Thomas, and Luke Thomas; great-grandchildren, Madison, Aiden, Isabella and Olivia Meade; Kellan, Kody, Kaleb and Khyler Harris; Makayla Strutton; and Merrick, Maklin and Mikah Wilcox.

Memorial contributions in honor of Kenneth may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1405 Main St., Blue Springs, Mo.
