Betty Jean Stumbo Obituary
Betty Jean Stumbo, 86, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at her home.

She was born January 7, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo., to Louis and Ina (Geer) Garber. Betty was united in marriage to Glen Stumbo and he preceded her in death. Betty was a fierce business woman, building and running her own restaurant by age 21. She continued to expand her business by opening B&G Liquor, which stood for Betty and Glen. Betty continued her business venture by expanding the shopping center to the iconic 7 and Main strip in Blue Springs, Mo., which she operated until her death.

Survivors include granddaughter, Kimberly Compton and husband, Jason, of Grain Valley, Mo.; great-grandson, Ryan Compton; longtime best friend, Mary Beck of Blue Springs, Mo.; another longtime friend, Ed Brown of Kingville, Mo. In addition to her husband Glen, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Glen Stumbo, and sister, Ruth Deering, as well as her parents.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, 816-229-3276. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.
