Darcy Evelyn "Mickey" Temple Obituary
Darcy Evelyn "Mickey" Temple, 94, formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016, at her home in Schell City, Mo.

Mickey was born on February 13, 1922, in Independence to Kinzy and Darcy Louzella (Cottingham) Grayer. She was united in marriage to John Albert "Nelson" Temple on November 21, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan., and he preceded her in death.

Mickey was born and raised in Independence, having lived her entire life there except for the short time she lived with her granddaughter, Melissa, in Schell City, due to her declining health. She attended school and graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence. She was employed by Sears where she worked in the billing department until her retirement. Mickey enjoyed frequenting thrift stores and yard sales. She also had a love of birds and flowers of all kinds. Mickey was known as a caregiver and she loved taking care of her family.

Survivors include two children, John Temple and his wife, Paula, Independence, Pat Paris and her husband, Clayton, Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Huffman, Independence, Virginia Pate, and Martha Parker, both of Grain Valley, Mo.; five grandchildren, John Nelson Temple, Melissa Paris-Tucker and her husband, Brian, Robin Paris, Debra Surrette, Joshua Temple and his wife, Jenny; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Nelson, she was preceded in death by one brother, "Junior" Kinzy Grayer, and two sisters, Betty Rice, and Norma Jean Hightower.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, with Pastor Roger Beach officiating.
