Willard Nixon Obituary

ENON — USAF CM Sgt. (Ret.) Willard L. "Bud" Nixon, age 85 of Enon, formerly of Adams County, passed away Wednesday February 19, 2014. He was born June 27, 1928 in Georgetown, OH, the son of the late Ulric and Florence (Kidder) Nixon. Bud served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1978 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant after 30 years of service. He returned to the family farm in Adams Co. following his military service and enjoyed farming as well as being involved with local real estate. Bud was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ in Winchester and attended First Church of Christ in Fairborn. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526 in Fairborn; the VFW, Amvets, and the NRA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Nixon; two brothers, Richard and Gail; two sisters, Helen and Kathryn; and two brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth; four children, Patricia (Lee) Siler of Enon, Dennis (Vickie) Nixon of Columbus, Michael (Terri) Nixon of New Carlisle, Robyn (Tara) Nixon of California; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Toni, Kyle, Ashley, Michaela, Marrisa, Laura; six great-grandchildren, and one of the way; three beloved brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, and their spouses; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family will receive friends on Monday February 24, 2014 from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A Post Everlasting service will begin at 6:00 P.M., followed by a funeral service, Pastor Steve Sisco officiating. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday February 25, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 noon in the Bethlehem Church of Christ, 505 Bethlehem Rd., Winchester, OH, Pastor Tom Claibourne officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Kirker Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Bethlehem Church of Christ –or- First Church of Christ, Fairborn. Bud was my boss at the courthouse in West Union as janitors backm in late 70s ,early 80s.He was a great person,who i respected very much.God bless the family.
