Everett VanBaren Obituary

XENIA Everett Van Baren, 88, of Xenia, was quietly and lovingly taken to his eternal home by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born July 18, 1924 in Rhenen, a city in central Netherlands, the son of Herbert and Hermina Van Baren. Everett was a very talented carpenter and taught carpentry at the Greene County Career Center. He was a member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church in Xenia. Prior to 1974, he was a member of First United Presbyterian Church where he served many years on the trustee board and enriched the choir with his baritone voice. He was an enthusiastic fisherman and camper, an avid reader of western novels, a patient and determined puzzle maker and enjoyed many successful years of gardening.

He is survived by his wife Jacoba (Van Ruiswk) Van Baren, whom he married September 28,1950, two daughters, Hermina (Rick) Reynolds of Xenia and Jane Van Baren of Alma, Colorado and a son Herbert (Kate) Van Baren of Woodstock, New York, grandchildren: Todd Reynolds, Troy (Margaret) Reynolds, Jeremiah Van Baren and Caroline Van Baren, great grandchildren, Hanna & Abigail Reynolds and William Reynolds, a brother Huib (Minnie) Van Baren of Ele, Holland. He was preceded in death by a daughter Trudy Van Baren in 1971 as well as three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Tuesday, April 30th at the McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia with a family friend, Rev. R. Michael Helling officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. The family will receive friends from 10AM Tuesday until the service time. Memorial contributions can be made in Everett's name to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mccolaughfuneralhome.com.
