FAIRBORN Chalmer Lee Day, 93 peacefully passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at Jamestowne Assisted Living in Kingston, TN.
He was born on March 12, 1920 in Lenox, KY to Robert Lee Day and Ressie (Wingo) Day.
Preceding Chalmer in death were his parents, sisters, Floris Burns, Myrtle Fannin, Essie Corwin, Edra Sipe, Marie Woods, and Opal Bass and wives, Billie (Phipps) Day, Ellen (Hutson) Day, and Wanita Edmiston Day. Chalmer is survived by his daughter Deborah King (Kevin), of Kingston, TN, stepsons, David Edmiston (Naomi) of Springfield, OH, and Dennis Edmiston of Fairborn, OH. Grand- daughter, Toni Nicole Noland, great grandchildren, Jamey and Sydney Noland, of Crossville, TN and sister, Wodelle (Nettie) Day of TX, and many extended family members
He was a WWII Navy vet, and served in the Pacific. He was a building contractor, building many homes in the Osborn/Fairborn area. He also was involved in Harness Racing as an Owner, Trainer & Driver for over 20 years. After retiring from racing, he served on various boards, committees, and consultant for Thoroughbred and Standardbred horses in Lexington, KY and Ocala, FL for 30 years. He took much pride in being a Kentucky Colonel, and always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. Prior to his move to TN, he attended Rona Community Church, Fairborn. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
