FAIRBORN — Louise Semler passed away on February 28, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. Cordelia Louise (Jackson) Semler was born September 18, 1930 at Dayton, Ohio, daughter of Judge Emmit Jay and Florence Jane (Morrison) Jackson. She attended high school in Dayton and attended Wittenberg University. She married Melvin Semler on June 3, 1950 at Dayton and to this marriage two children were born. They resided in Fairborn, Ohio where they raised their family. Melvin passed in 2007. Survivors include her two children, Douglas (Mary) Semler of Santa Cruz, California and Susan (Donald) Boyd of Centerville, five grandchildren: Chela Lucia, Lauren Moore, Emily Boyd, Angela Barros, and Cassidy Semler, and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Alley, Skylar Alley, and Elliana Lucia, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was blessed with a host of friends and the family extends their particular appreciation to Kristine Vaughn and Mary Pierce. Her husband, brother, and sister preceded her in death. Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many in her community. She loved her gardening, cooking, card club and her two little companions Joe and Molly. All who knew her had a most generous and caring friend, and she will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 1:30 PM at Trinity United Church of Christ, 821 N. Central Avenue, Fairborn. Attendees are invited to bring a story or their written thoughts about Louise's life and their experiences with her (the family would like to retain these for preparation of a memorial scrapbook – thank you). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Second Chance Dog Rescue, 4403 St. Rt. 725, Suite F, Bellbrook, OH 45305 or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. Arrangements by Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 W. Main Street, Fairborn. Condolences may be sent to www.morris-sons.com.
