FAIRBORN — Glenn van de Sandt, 89, Zionsville, Indiana (1924 - 2013). Glenn van de Sandt passed away in his home on Friday November 29th, 2013. Glenn was born January 5th 1924 in Los Angeles CA. During the great depression his family moved to Mill Valley CA, where he graduated from high school and joined the military. He served as a Photo Reconnaissance pilot during WW2 in the South Pacific. His assignments following the war included assignments in Japan, the Azores, Germany, Oklahoma, Texas and Ohio. After retiring from active military duty in 1966 he began his Civil Service career as a procurement agent at the "Defense Electronic Supply Center" in Dayton Ohio. In 1981 he transferred to Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Glenn fully retired in 1986 and moved back to Fairborn Ohio in 2000, and finally living in Zionsville, Indiana in 2012. Glenn is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara and 7 children Sherian Traywick, (James) - Fortson, Georgia, Ronald van de Sandt - Xenia, Ohio, Michael van de Sandt, (Claudia) - Meade, CO, Linda Cristman, (David) - Placerville, CA, William van de Sandt, (Ann)- Zionsville, IN, Karen Stacey, (Richard) - Murfreesboro, TN, Robert van de Sandt, (Yvette) - Sierra Vista, AZ, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, step daughter Penny Johnson and 3 nieces. Glenn was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed by all who love him. Friends may call on Friday, December 6, 2013 ­11AM to ­Noon at Burcham Jennings Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St. Fairborn, Ohio where funeral services will follow at Noon. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery.
