Harold Pine

FAIRBORN — USAF CMSgt. (Ret.) Harold L. Pine, age 81 of Fairborn, passed away Monday January 13, 2014 in the Soin Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1932 in McComb, Mississippi, the son of the late Leonard and Hattie Lou Pine. Harold served his country in the United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam, retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in 1979; and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring in 1995 after 45 years of combined federal service. He was a longtime member of the Byron Church in Fairborn, where he served as an usher for many years; as well as the Fairborn Lodge No. 764 F&AM and the Antioch Shrine. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Alfred, and Bobby. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Melba; two sons, Shelby (Linda) Pine of Maryland, Dr. Steven Pine of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Thomas E. (Nadine) Pine of Louisiana; a sister, Minnie Mae (George) Darr of Mississippi; special friend, Diana (Dave) Lee of Enon; as well as many people from around the world who love Harold and Melba and call them "Mom" and "Pop". The family will receive friends on Sunday January 19, 2014 from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M., with a Masonic service at 4:45, in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 20, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. in the Byron Church, 3230 Trebein Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the –or- the .
