ENON — John W. Horne, 84 of Enon, Ohio passed away May 15, 2014 at 6:34 AM in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born June 25, 1929 in Paintsville, KY, the son of the late Norman and Myrtie (McCloud) Horne. John served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He spent the biggest part of his life teaching and being a principal for the Fairborn City Schools and following retired worked as a salesman for Red Wing Shoe Store. John was a member of the Yellow Springs Lodge #421 F & AM. John devoted his life to Christ and was a member of the Springfield Freewill Baptist Church. He also going to the United Senior Services where he enjoyed playing volleyball. He is survived by three children Vern (Angie) Horne of Tellico Plains, TN, Steve (Sharon) Horne of Enon and Johnetta (David) Hall of Myakka City, FL; step children Steve (Geri) Perkins and Rick (Cindy) Perkins both of Springfield; five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; brother Harold L. (Nancy) Horne of Paintsville, KY; sister Minerva E. (Nathan) Castle of Fairborn; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Ada Elliott of Springfield. John was preceded in death by his wife Jessie (VanHoose) Horne; his wife Pauline (Perkins) Horne; sister Eula B. Sammons; brothers Frances E., Norman L. and Robert L. Horne. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00PM till 4:00PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. A service to honor John will be Monday at 11:00AM in the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Springfield, Ohio with Pastors Charlie Crider, Steve Wallace and his nephew Keith Horne officiating.
